Don’t you just love this time of year? You know winter is not over but you slowly start noticing the early signs of spring, the days are slowly getting longer, the buds are starting to come through and you know that when you start to see the daffodils and snowdrops spring is close, hopefully this year the weather will be a lot nicer for us, last year in the UK it was so wet and windy.
On my way home from work I heard the birds singing and it just made me stop and appreciate this time of year and what it offers us. It reminded me that hibernation time is almost over, the winter offers us a time of rest and a time to plant seeds ready for the spring and the time is nearly upon us, when it is time for those seeds to bloom. As we start to see the blossoming flowers it represents the blossoms of new ideas and creativity, the new leaves on the trees represent fresh perspectives and shedding old habits.
For Imbolc I planned my garden and all the herbs and flowers I would love to plant, making sure I picked flowers that the Bee’s loved, I decided to plant
Thyme for courage, strength, protection, healing, transformation and clarity.
Parsley for protection, purification and new beginnings
Sage for wisdom, cleansing and its ability to clear negative energy.
Mint to symbolise hospitality, purification, healing and rejuvenation.
Chives, they carry positive energy and protection and are good for getting rid of negativity of energy and bad habits
Sunflowers to represent positivity, loyalty and enlightenment and are very Bee friendly.
I also have a new member of the family my new little kitten Luna, so I got some cat grass for her, as I rent and the house has fake grass. I have also decided to grow some of my own vegetables as long as it can be planted in a pot and grow upwards I should be ok so I am trying to grow tomatoes and green beans.
The other day it was a lovely sunny day a bit cold but sunny and I got a chance to go into my garden to have a look and I was happy to see that my Rosemary is doing well, my Dahlia plant has survived the winter I just hope it blooms as it is very good for the Bees, my lavender looks well and my Daffodil buds are coming through.
So now as the spring equinox approaches us I am going to embrace this time of year and enjoy all the beauty that nature offers us and I am going to carry on working towards my goals so that when spring arrives they are ready to bloom and prepare my celebrations for the spring equinox. This year for some reason I am really looking forward to spring and I just feel that I want to embrace every second of this season and make the most of the energy spring has to offer us.
